I purchased this filter for lens protection. It has no impact on the photos that I have taken and I no longer worry about the lens being damaged.
I had a uv filter years ago for my Canon AE1 Program made by Hoya and it gave me superb service. Over the years I have upgraded to a Canon Rebel digital and I still rely on Hoya for the same superb quality. What would I do without Hoya.
This filter (or a similar one) is something you must have for each of the lenses. You can also use a polaryzer or some other sort of lens. The first function is to remove thos violet colours that are sometimes captured by the camera on outdor shooting, the second function and maibe the most important is protect the lens from dust and scratches. Buying a filter $10 or less will give you the protection for a lens that will costs hundreds if not thousands of dollars, for me, it is well spent money. I like this one because it create no unwanted effects and will not make the camera goe some stops slower (as other filters do) Hoya makes great lenses with no optical aberration and that will surely make you glad. Be sure to buy the diameter each of your lenses need.
I use the UV filters primarily as a clear lens protector for my DSLR lenses. Keeping that in mind, this lens arrived in good condition, screwed onto my camera lens just fine, and seems to be doing its job.
